WWE Star Joins Strikeforce: Houston

July 19th, 2010 · No Comments

July 17, 2010—Fists will clench tightly in heightened anticipation as Houston MMA fans and
pundits wait anxiously to witness undefeated, former professional wrestler Bobby Lashley fight
MMA veteran and firefighter, Chad “The Grave Digger” Griggs of Tuscon, Arizona in a spar for
the heavyweight crown on Aug. 21 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
This won’t be Lashley’s first encounter with Strikeforce. In Jan. 2010, he took home a TKO
against Wes Sims at STRIKEFORCE: Miami. The road to MMA began in 2008 when Lashley
made his first appearance in the sport.
As for Griggs, this will be his first duel since he knocked out Jon Alexander in January of this
year at Rumble In Wyoming: Ultimate Style Fighting in the first round.
MMA involves well-deserved victories through brute strength and tactical, physical strategy.
Unlike entertainment wrestling, MMA fighting is an athletic reality devoid of rehearsed, bodily
theatrics. Despite Lashley’s Herculean size and superstar reputation in the wrestling world,
Lashley will have to showcase more than exhibitionist monstrosity and fiery, hyperbolic rhetoric
to earn a victory that would put him on the map in a world of brutal, unarticulated knockouts.
STRIKEFORCE: HOUSTON FIGHT CARD – August 21, 2010
· King Mo vs. Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante
· Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza vs. Tim Kennedy
· KJ Noons vs. Jorge Gurgel
· Bobby Lashley vs. TBC
