The 22 year old Jon Jones boasts an 8-0 pro MMA record and is 2-0 in the UFC including an amazingly dominate performance against UFC veteran Stephan Bonnar. Jones is a fast rising star who doesn’t seem to have much fear of the guys at the top of his weight class (205), including Lyoto Machida. Here is a comment Jones made about Machida in a recent interview with USA Today:

“I think Machida is getting a lot of hype, and I know he has lots of big wins over a lot of big fighters, and a lot of experience over me. I don’t think he’s Christ; I think he’s very beatable. They’re looking at him and his karate like he’s Bruce Lee. He’s not Bruce Lee…I honestly believe that a great Muay Thai champion will beat a great karate fighter any day; it’s been proven on lots of occasions.”

While  you may say that is big talk from a guy who has not held the belt, if you watch a Jon Jones highlight reel, you will see that this fighter is no slouch and is in fact a very impressive fighter.  It appears Jones has a mentality that anyone can be beat, which can be helpful when you are battling some of the best fighters in the world.  It is hard to win a fight if you don’t believe you can win.
