Olympic Wrestler Ben Askren Makes Move to MMA

November 5th, 2008 · No Comments

It is happening again and will probably happen many more times into the future. Another great wrestler is now looking to fight in professional MMA. Ben Askren, former Olympic Wrestler, one of only two wrestlers to win the Dan Hodge Trophy plans to make his MMA debut soon. Word on the street is that he has been training with the American Top Team fight camp. Here is what their general manager had to say.

“Obviously his pedigree and his base is tremendous,” said American Top Team general manager Richie Guerriero. “Not only his wrestling base, but his work ethic, his history of competition and mental mindset. He brings more than just a wrestling base to the sport. It’s not something you can teach. He’s been a competitive athlete since a kid, and the mental aspect is a big part of the sport of MMA.”

Keep your eyes peeled for Ben. No one is sure at this point who he will sign with and where he will fight, but one thing is for sure, you’re not going to want to miss it.
